AA Dog
Rescue

£971.65

Re-home a rescue dog in Essex. All the dogs have been abandoned or seized through neglect. We are based in Essex, home to London & the Counties & we are a non profit organisation.

AA Dog Rescue is dedicated to saving 'pound dogs'. These are dogs who, through no fault of their own, have found themselves placed in council pounds where they have 7 days in which to be claimed or go into rescue.

Unfortunately, there are only so many rescue spaces available and when their 7 days are up, if they are still there, they are put to sleep at the pound! We do our utmost to get them out, but dogs are being put to sleep by the pounds at an average of 200 dogs per day!

Please help us to help them!!! The lucky ones that we do get are fully assessed, neutered, vaccinated and chipped.

An adoption fee will apply. Every time someone adopts a dog, it means we can save another!

Dog Welfare

£555.23

Wellingborough Dog Welfare, or Wellidog as we are more fondly known is a local charity in Grendon, Northamptonshire, and we are dedicated to making life easier for strays and unwanted dogs locally from surrounding areas.

Founded in 1993 we have been rescuing stray dogs for over 22 years and are still as committed today as we always have been. With so many abandoned and unwanted dogs entering kennels every day we are committed to finding loving homes for all of our dogs. We are a no-kill shelter who believe that second hand dogs make first class friends, and we work around the clock to raise funds to care for the dogs in our care while we search for their perfect forever home.

All of the money we raise goes directly to our charity, but we can only carry on the work we do with the help of people’s generosity. We do not claim expenses for our work, our payment is seeing the dogs in our care transferred to a forever home and becoming part of a family where they are loved.

Cloud K9
Rescue

£827.71

UK registered charity Cloud K9 Rescue has been formed by a group of like-minded people who want to make a change to the lives of Romanian dogs. In Romania the stray dog population is enormous, with thousands of dogs discarded or born into a life of suffering and uncertainty. Pregnant females, elderly and ill are either captured by merciless dog catchers or deserted at public shelters.

In the shelters overcrowding, hunger, disease and fights are commonplace. The only possible way to escape this hell is to find a suitable adopter, likely in a foreign country. Our dedicated team of unpaid carers have been haunted by the plight of Romanian dogs and are committed to doing everything we possibly can for these poor souls. We work with Romanian rescuers who we know and trust, supporting them through rehoming and donations. Over the last few years we have all fostered, adopted, and raised funds for many Romanian dogs.

We provide full rescue back up for all our dogs and work closely with our adopters to give them ongoing support and advice for as long as the dog remains with them. Candy Found herself a house in a remote village up in the Rhodope Mountains in Bulgaria. It started quickly that she found abandoned puppies and couldn’t stand not to take them in. She had Pony and her dogs from the UK - Polo and Lola - with her, but in no time she added Anty and Panty, Florence, Mechka, Tar, little Minnie and five cats. Numbers added up and she decided to find them homes as otherwise there wouldn’t be any more space for other wee souls in need. The idea of a NGO was born and realised in the next few years.

Our main aim is neutering of strays and owned dogs to stop breeding of unwanted puppies, improve the life of chain dogs (doorbell dogs) and educate the youth to learn to care better for animals! Nevertheless there are always a few lonely souls that need TLC and a home! We have many projects planned to help to encourage people to improve the welfare of their dogs.

To enable us to succeed we need your help. By donating you are enabling us to neuter the dogs of Smilyan in Bulgaria and the surrounding villages, run the education program in the school and set up a sponsorship program for locally owned dogs, as well as the re-homing of our rescues.

With your help we can keep going!

Little China Dog Rescue_logo_small-min
5th place

Little China
Dog Rescue

£236.49

Little China Dog Rescue was established on the 27th of January 2018 with the arrival of our first rescues from China. We started the rescue because of one little dog called Ollie.

Ollie was rescued in the autumn of 2017 by a local lady from Harbin’s meat markets after 4 years of medical testing. She contacted Harbin SHS as she was concerned that Ollie and 2 other disabled poodles that she had rescued would not survive Harbin’s harsh winters of sub 20 degrees in her exposed shelter. Harbin SHS took Ollie in and discovered that he had severe muscle atrophy, spinal curvature and badly deformed limbs.

On the 19th October 2017, Gabrielle Gardiner and Christopher Sheehan from Northern Ireland decided that they had to help. After a lot of research, they contacted Harbin SHS to get Ollie to the UK for the care he needed. Gabrielle and Chris did not yet know it but they were about to become founders of Doggy 911 Rescue (now renamed Little China Dog Rescue) with a passion to help more dogs like Ollie.

Our Mission
To find safe and loving homes in the UK and Ireland for dogs rescued from the most horrific of scenarios including slaughterhouses, meat trucks and medical testing facilities. We also aim to provide advanced veterinary care for our rescue dogs in foster homes who require (but not limited to) neurology, orthopaedics and cardiology; using specialists who are world and European leading.

New Hope Animal Rescue is an independent, non-destruct animal rescue and Sanctuary. We are dedicated to helping animals facing euthanasia, in immediate danger and those with either medical needs or behavioural problems that make them difficult to place. We aim to help as many animals and in particular those that have been turned away elsewhere. We also give sanctuary to rescued horses, farm animals and fowl.

We have two sites, one in Dartford, Kent which concentrates on our dog rescue, where we hold about forty dogs at a time and the other is our Sanctuary site in Herne Bay, Kent. Our Sanctuary site looks after about four hundred animals at a time ranging from dogs, cats, small domestics and wildlife to birds, goats, cows, sheep, pigs and horses. We occasionally rehome animals that we consider rehomeable but often act as the middleman between immediate danger and rescue spaces.

We work alongside a vast pool of other rescue organisations to make safe as many animals as we can. New Hope has no paid staff, including its founders who work full time to cover as much cost as possible. We are always in need of donations to cover a vast array of expenses that are incurred including food, bedding, enormous vet bills, kennel bills, transport costs and continuous improvement of animal housing and sites.

Luosko German
Shepherd Rescue

£240.88

LUOSKO German Shepherd Dog Rescue is a small independent charity set up to responsibly rescue, rehabilitate and re-home German Shepherds. It is run entirely by volunteers.

We normally re-home around 100+ dogs each year. We operate on a national basis so our dogs can be homed in most areas throughout the UK.

As part of our responsible re-homing process, we try to match our dogs to potential families, we normally organise several face-to-face meetings and home visits before they go to their forever homes, which has significantly reduced the number of dogs coming back into rescue and increased our successful adoptions creating extremely happy families.

Animals In Need
Northamptonshire

£747.43

Animals In Need is an organisation dedicated to rescuing sick, injured, trapped and distressed wild and domestic animals. We provide veterinary treatment where necessary, care for and rehabilitate animals until they can be released or re-homed. Animals In Need was set up in 1990, the aim of the organization is alleviate suffering in animals.

In the years Animals In Need has been established, we have acquired a fully equipped animal ambulance, two water crafts and trailers for transportation, plus the usual first aid essentials. Although our first aid equipment is adequate it is regularly updated to current standards.

Animals In Need is a rescue organization run by 8 members of staff and a team of volunteers, attending animal casualties in the Northamptonshire area. We attend to both domestic and wild animals, and in 1999 were asked by Northamptonshire Police to work with them attending road traffic accidents and out of hours emergencies.

Feeding and caring for the injured animals we rescue is most important especially in cases of young orphaned birds, which need hand feeding every hour from dawn till dusk. Also young hedgehogs which haven’t reached the required weight to survive hibernation over the winter months, need to be kept warm and fed as do swans that have incurred injuries, many from fishing tackle that they have swallowed or become entangled in. Please if you bring in wildlife or collect hedgehogs after we have rehabilitated them, perhaps you would be kind enough to consider setting up a standing order or making a one-off donation to help towards food and vet bills – we are totally reliant on donations and receive no government funding.

Our continued dedication to the animals has resulted with us teaming up with the amazing dog trainer Nathan Watson. Nathan successfully runs Restart4Rescues and this programme is offered to anyone who rehomes a dog from us here to help provide support and information in those first important few weeks when settling a rescue dog into your home.

In 2018 we moved from near Ruthin to Dobshill in Flintshire so we could grow and help more dogs in need.

£448.13

The founders of Monarch's Mutts father (Trevor Antill) wrote the public footpath The Monarch's Way along with many other walking books, hence this dog rescue's name and royal themes. Trevor could often be seen rambling along the countryside many years ago, throughout Britain with the family's first rescue dog, a ginger cross breed called Skipper from Birmingham Dogs Home.

Trevor fought for the freedom to roam and to keep public footpaths clear and open for everyone to enjoy this green and pleasant land.

Monarch's Mutts dog rescue is based in Halesowen and covers the West Midlands, helping as many dogs in need as possible. We are working towards charity status and are planning on walking the entire Monarch's Way with our rescue dogs to raise much needed funds, with the ultimate, long term goal to acquire land and kennels along the monarch's way. This will become a sanctuary for forgotten dogs and walkers who wish to stop for a cup of tea, cake and dog cuddles.

We take needy dogs into our rescue and give them care, love, medical attention they need. We will help out any breed, age or health needs and our dogs come direct from owners, stray pounds, veterinary surgeries and via other rescue.

We are predominantly bull breed specific and aim to help as many misunderstood dogs as we can manage. We feel bull breeds are demonised and persecuted and most likely to be abused and abandoned. However, given the right homes and owners who understand them, they make wonderful family members. With bull breeds over taking any other breeds in rescue we are dedicated to giving as many as we can a second chance. Many of our dogs come with issues and are worked on before being placed in a foster home who we hope will eventually adopt so to cause the least upset to our beloved and emotionally sensitive breeds.

We also accept animals that are unable to find sanctuary elsewhere, due to behaviour or health issues, and we either rehabilitate or provide a loving home. We believe that every animal has the right to a long and happy life.

At Lizzie’s Barn we have a specially converted barn, which we use in preference to kennels, surrounded by 10 acres for exercise. Some of our dogs will stay with us forever due to old age or ill-health. We provide them with comfort, company and security for the rest of their lives. Some will be found homes as and when they are ready.

Much of our work is with abandoned abused and neglected dogs, and with puppies rejected by other organisations. The sanctuary is able to offer them the rich social experience, mixing with people and other dogs which is essential for their development. We find homes both locally and in other parts of the UK as this enables us to increase the number we can help. However to do this we need increased support. To ensure our dogs go to loving owners, all new homes must be vetted and/or references may also be required.

We are a small, family-run rescue without any paid staff, providing safety and sanctuary to dogs who have been to hell and back, having strangers around is stressful and unsettling for them, so we are unable to invite visitors to the sanctuary prior to vetting & without an appointment.

All of our dogs for adoption will have been neutered if old enough, and deemed fit enough, by our vet and come with four weeks free insurance cover. We ask for a set donation on adoption towards our many costs which enables us to continue our work and to help other dogs. Full lifetime support and back up is provided for every dog. They must be returned to Lizzie’s Barn at any time should the new owner be unable to care for them, and an undertaking by the owner to do so forms part of our adoption agreement.

- We provide vaccinations, flea & worm treatments, microchips and spay/neutering. Medical care and rehabilitation as necessary.
- We work alongside other rescues and organisations to help more dogs
- We stay in contact with all fosterers and adopters offering daily support and behavioural needs.

Fall In Love
With A Rescue

£43.53

Since September 2013, Fall in Love with a Rescue has been rescuing and rehoming dogs saved from council pounds across the UK that would otherwise be destroyed.

Though we primarily rescue Sighthounds – such as Greyhounds, Whippets and Lurchers in general – we have been known to occasionally take on other breeds. Our dogs are fully neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed, deflead and given a full health check before being adopted.

As a non-profit organistation, Fall in Love with a Rescue strongly rely on public donations to help save and care for our dogs. We are also currently developing our network of fosterers and volunteers, so that we can save even more dogs, and give them another chance at life.

Moor-view
Rescue

£43.53

Moor-view Rescue is based in the Yorkshire Dales and is run as a small, independent rescue whose activities are funded solely by donations and fundraising. Since it was established in 2009 Moor-view has rehomed over 2000 dogs in the UK. Most of the dogs at Moor-view come from local pounds where stray or abandoned dogs are taken. Without a place in a rescue such as ours, many dogs are euthanised when their time in the pound is up.
